The Building

A 12-story, 120-unit residential building with a doorman.

The Goal

Enhance the capabilities of an existing surveillance system to minimize workforce needs.

The Challenge

With a surveillance system in place, the owner of the 120-unit building relied on a doorman/concierge workforce to provide safe access to tenants. This included an eight-hour overnight shift, seven days a week, valued at about $70,000 per year. In an effort to eliminate this high-turnover shift and reduce operating costs, the owner turned to Visentry for a customized solution.

After performing a gap analysis to understand current operating procedures and identify room for improvement, the team at Visentry took action.

The first step was to upgrade the video surveillance system with additional cameras for eyes-on coverage of all public areas in the lobby, basement and laundry facilities. Then Visentry tapped into the existing access control system to enable complete command and control of building access from the Visentry remote command center.

The remote guarding agents function as the owner’s “eyes-in-the-sky.” With access to video analytics, artificial intelligence and telecommunication systems, remote guards can monitor and authorize building access to tenants while receiving real-time alerts of any anomalies.
