About the Sites
Five multi-tenant, Class A office buildings in the Mission Bay area of San Francisco. The bustling area is a hotspot for biotech companies.
The Goal
With budget constraints in place, the building owners needed to scale security operations to account for neighborhood growth without having to increase their headcount.
The Visentry Competitive Advantage
With Visentry the client is able to maximize security with AI technology paired with human intervention while minimizing the need for additional physical on-site guards.
THE CHALLENGE
Staying on Budget While Staying Secure.
Home to several biotech companies, this cluster of buildings was once kept secure by two to three security guards at each facility, 24/7. But with the new Golden State Warriors arena set to open soon in the area, a security consultant recommended that the national real estate investment trust (REIT) plan to double their security force. While the need was clear, existing operating budgets did not allow room for increasing the security guard headcount.

Urgency to Find a Solution For Security
THE SOLUTION
Reducing Cost & Increasing Security
When Visentry came into the picture, their first concern was to address the buildings’ antiquated surveillance system — one in which many cameras did not even work. Based on an initial gap assessment, DGF had a local vendor install a brand new surveillance system with coverage of the entire property and cameras equipped with video analytics.
During normal business hours, these analytics are fed to the guard desk. If someone is spotted loitering in the garage, for example, an alert is sent to the guard desk in the lobby of each building. The guards can then prompt the roving guard to go and check out the issue. In the case where a guard is busy or on break, a DGF remote guard would step in to oversee the situation.
As part of their comprehensive services, Visentry also provides integrated incident reports and forensic studies when needed (i.e., if someone falls). Not to mention, they also manage the health and maintenance of the cameras so the technology is always working as it should.

What Success Looks Like
Reduced a building owner’s risk of having a guard on-site (contracting/spreading COVID, altercations involving the guard).
Measurable Improvements
Saving $35/hour (for the cost of the physical security guard they were able to eliminate), 24/7 remote guarding
The Results…
After implementing Visentry, the building owners have reduced transient loitering and other problematic activity with fewer security staff on-site. Now, each building only requires one security guard, with a single roving guard needed for the overnight shift to check on situations throughout the area.
While Visentry services cost the real estate firm $10.71 per hour, the going rate for security guards in San Francisco is $35 per hour. With this difference in costs, each building has been able to save at least $20,000 per month.
